How do I format in-text citations?

The guidelines for formatting in-text citations are included in Chapter 8 of the APA manual, but there is a lot of information to digest. 

APA uses an "author-date citation system" for in-text citations. In this system, each work used within a paper is cited within the body of the paper and in the reference list (pg. 261).
