How do I cite multiple authors?

Our Western Libraries APA Style Guide has instructions on citing multiple authors.

Two Authors (Book):

General Format:

Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (year). Title of book. Publisher.

Example:

McIntyre, M., & Thomlinson, E. (2003). Realities of Canadian nursing: Professional,
practice, and power issues. Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.

Note in running text: …as McIntyre and Thomlinson (2003) argued….
Note outside running text: …as has been published (McIntyre & Thomlinson, 2003)

***APA 7th edition: Do not include physical locations for publishers in any reference type.***

Three to Twenty Authors:

Example:

Henggeler, S. W., Mihalic, S., Rone, L., Thomas, C., & Timmons-Mitchell, J.

First and subsequent notes in running text: ...as Henggeler et al. (2007) alerted….
First and subsequent notes outside running text: …as has been formulated (Henggeler et al., 2007)….

***APA 7th edition: For 1 to 20 authors include all authors' names in the reference list entry. When there are 21 or more authors, include the first 19 authors' names, insert an ellipsis (but no ampersand), and then add the final author's name.***

***APA 7th edition: In-text citations for 3 or more authors: use first author and et al. for first and all subsequent citations.***
