How do I find population statistics worldwide?

Statista: In the top navigation menu select Reports > Country Reports. Search for a region, country, province/state, or city. Reports include population and other demographic statistics.


U.S. Census Bureau International Data Base (IDB): Interactive dashboard providing accurate and timely demographic measures of over 200 countries and areas of the world.


Fitch Connect: Select Data Tools in the top navigation menu. Choose the Interactive Charts option. Choose a country using the select entities/geographies option. For the data item select an indicator from Industries > Operational Risk > Population. Next, select a date range and finally a visualization option.


OECD.Stat: For OECD member countries. In the menu to the left select Demography and Population > Population Statistics. Select an option then use the "Country" drop-down to choose a country.

  • For historical data see Demography and Population > Population archives > Historical population data and projections (1950-2060). Click the arrow to the right of "Time" to choose a date range. 

UNData: Select a country or region (including World) to view population and other statistics.


Population Reference Bureau (PRB): For population, health, and environmental trend data see the Data section.


UN World Population Prospects: For population estimates and projections prepared by the Population Division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs of the United Nations Secretariat.
