Grant information in RIMS Elements is institutionally sourced from Western's Research On-Line Administration (ROLA) system. It is possible to associate a manual record with the Institutional Grants System record in RIMS; this allows a researcher to make modifications to how their grant is presented, internally for CV reporting and / or publicly on RIMS Discovery.
To create an associated manual record:
Go to the RIMS login page and sign in using your Western email address and password.
On the Homepage, click "Grants & Awards (view all)".
Click on the title of the grant that you want to modify.
Click on the "+", plus sign, in the bottom right corner of the "Data sources" section to make modifications to the data fields provided.
You can make modifications in the data fields provided. Adding a URL to a public grant will make the grant title clickable on RIMS Discovery.
When the grant title is clicked, the user is directed to the URL provided, such as a sponsor's website which provides additional grant information.
Click on the Save button.
You should now see an additional entry in the list of data sources for your grant. A "Manual" entry should exist above the "Institutional Grants System" entry.
Your changes should now take precedence in the grant presentation, rather than the data sourced from the Institutional Grants System, ROLA.
