How to control who can see a non-sensitive grant?

Details are displayed on a grant that is public to your RIMS profile: title, sponsor, start and end dates, program name (and optionally, a URL). All grants are private by default in RIMS. Only certain grants can be made public on your RIMS profile by adjusting the grant privacy settings; this depends on whether the grant is classified as sensitive by the institution.

To control who can see a non-sensitive grant on your RIMS profile in RIMS Discovery:

  1. Go to the RIMS login page and sign in using your Western email address and password.
  2. Open your grant.
    • From your profile dashboard, select "Grants & Awards (View all)".
    • Click on the "Privacy Settings" icon (located between the heart and the three dot menu) on the grant you want to update.
  3. Change the privacy setting
    • Click the icon to open the privacy options
    • Choose the appropriate setting and apply to both, "Grant or award privacy" and "Relationship privacy". The options are:
      • Private - visible only to you
      • Internal - visible to Western users
      • Public - visible to anyone

Agency to make an embargo public is the responsibility of the primary investigator and the requirements of the sponsor who awarded the funding need to be considered. It is important to make an informed decision, ensuring the embargo period is observed before making a grant public.
