How does Western Libraries financially support OA?
Western Libraries financially supports several memberships that reduce or remove APC costs for Western scholars and support OA infrastructure. Through the work of the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN), Western Libraries pursues transformative agreements that include OA publishing options within our journal subscriptions. For example, a recent transformative agreement with Sage covers APCs for authors affiliated with Western without significantly increasing our subscription costs.
We also provide self-archiving support for Western’s institutional repository, Scholarship@Western, along with individual consultation and workshops for publishing open access.
